Modular Lighting Inspired by Plant Structures
bioWglow is a lighting object whose illuminated components are inspired by cystoliths—tiny mineral structures in plant leaves that diffuse light for more efficient photosynthesis. The body of the lamp features cross-sections based on phi-thickenings, as do the modular elements of the lampshade. Like bioWroot, its layered printing mimics the orientation of fibers in a tree trunk and branches (T-joint).
This lighting piece goes beyond aesthetics: it serves as a photobiomodulation element. Its diffused light positively influences wakefulness, focus, and the user’s overall psychophysiological balance.
The modular design allows users to swap out components and customize lampshade inserts based on their preferences. The bioWglow structure also serves as a support element for suspending the bioWdivider panels.
